Glen Tanar Deerstalking

22nd October 2014
With my good friend Roddie to Glen Tanar last Sunday. Torrential rain at the Cairnwell but fortunately it improved further East. Coffee and cake at the Station in Ballater and a chance for Rod to moan about the service.
On to Glen Tanar where Rod's brother Colin gave up his day off to take us crawling on our bellies up a burn to within about 500m of a fine stag and his harem.
The light was very poor compared to last year but, on the plus side, I had hired a 600mm Canon lens to get a bit closer to the action, as the fine fellow bullied and roared his head off all afternoon.
The large heavy lens made the camera a bit hard to manoeuvre and Colin did a sterling job in offering his shoulder as a resting pad.
Below are a few shots from our afternoon in the company of this magnificent beast.
Thanks Rod, what a driver you are. A man who believes that the car should be of a similar vintage to the Prog Rock he plays in it.
